The top three highest team scores in ODI format are all held by the England cricket team.

England’s cricketing prowess was on full display on June 17, 2022, in Amstelveen, where they etched their name in the record books by achieving the highest team score in a One Day International (ODI). With an astonishing total of 498 runs, England left the Netherlands in awe. This remarkable feat was largely thanks to the phenomenal batting performances of Jos Buttler and Liam Livingstone, both of whom played exceptional innings that significantly contributed to England’s impressive score. Buttler’s stellar performance saw him amass a staggering 162 runs, while Livingstone displayed his prowess by adding 66 runs in just 22 balls during the match.

The second-highest ODI team score, 481 runs, was achieved by England in Nottingham on June 19, 2018, against arch-rivals Australia. This memorable match witnessed Jonny Bairstow and Alex Hales stepping up to the plate, playing pivotal roles in England’s outstanding performance. Bairstow showcased his mettle by scoring 139 runs, while Alex Hales contributed a whopping 147 runs, ultimately leading England to a resounding victory with a substantial margin of 242 runs.

The third-highest ODI team score, 444 runs, was also notched up by England, this time against Pakistan in Nottingham on August 30, 2016. In this match, Alex Hales once again took center stage with a remarkable innings, amassing 171 runs from 122 balls, which included four sixes and 22 boundaries. It’s worth noting that the third-highest total in ODIs, 443 runs, was achieved by Sri Lanka against the Netherlands in Amstelveen on July 4, 2006.

In the grand tapestry of ODI records, it’s fascinating to harken back to March 12, 2006, when Australia created history by becoming the first team to breach the 400-run mark in ODIs, achieving a total of over 400 runs against South Africa in Johannesburg. This marked a turning point in the evolution of ODI cricket, and England’s recent accomplishments demonstrate the continued evolution of the sport at the highest level.
