Power Players for Gujarat vs Delhi Match

Although Hardik Pandya didn’t pick a wicket, it was good to see him finish his full quota of four overs. With the bat though, he added 33 valuable runs.

It was Mohammad Shami’s outstanding burst in the powerplay (3 wickets) that set the game up for Gujarat against Lucknow. There are few better new-ball bowlers than him.

As far as spin goes, Rashid Khan is arguably the best going around in T20 cricket. Regardless of teams, conditions, or situations, the leg-spinner finds ways to strike. He picked a wicket in both matches against Delhi in 2021.

Smart Picks Gujarat vs Delhi Match

Matthew Wade took time to get going against Lucknow but still managed a useful 30 at the top. He also dons the gloves for Lucknow.

Just when it appeared that Lucknow would triumph over Gujarat, David Miller swung the game in his side’s favour with a brisk knock of 30 off 21. The southpaw is at his most dangerous when he has limited balls to face.

Shubman Gill was dismissed for a duck in the last game. That said, the opening batter scored 43 and 46 in his last two innings against Delhi in 2021.

After struggling to perform for a long time in the Indian T20 League, Kuldeep Yadav finally managed to turn things around by bagging a three-wicket haul against Mumbai. His regular wickets pushed the five-time champions onto the back foot.

Very rarely does Axar Patel go wicketless in the cash-rich tournament. It’s not to be forgotten that he was the second-highest wicket-taker (15) for Delhi last year. We also saw how he can swing hard with the bat: he blasted a quickfire 38 against Mumbai.

After flopping in the last game, Rishabh Pant will be itching to make an impact with both bat and gloves. If he stays at the crease for a few overs, we all know what he is capable of.

Surprisingly Rahul Tewatia didn’t bowl against Gujarat but made his presence with the willow by scoring a match-winning knock of 40 off 24. Going forward, he should also roll his arm over regularly.

With Prithvi Shaw, it is all or nothing. That said, Delhi will need their opener to lay a decent foundation at the top.

Despite fielding only two overseas players, Delhi managed to beat Mumbai in their first match. Gujarat too made a resounding statement after beating fellow debutants Lucknow last week. On paper, there is little separating the two sides and that could make for an exciting viewing.
