Out of seven matches at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, five have been won by the teams chasing. Surprisingly, dew hasn’t always hampered the bowlers in the second half of the game. Therefore, expect the spinners to be in the thick of things.

Power Players for Rajasthan vs Gujarat Match

Much of Rajasthan’s success in this edition can be ascribed to the brilliance of Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal. While the English opener is the leading run-getter (218 at 72.67), the Indian leg-spinner has taken the most wickets (11 at 9.45). If anything, Rajasthan and fantasy players both could be in for some more treats in days to come.

Rajasthan will also be delighted with Shimron Hetmyer’s breezy knocks down the order. The southpaw’s scores read 32, 35, 42*, and 59* at a strike rate of 178.72.

Hardik Pandya has led by example by contributing with both and ball. He has scored 141 runs comprising the highest score of 50* and bagged three wickets in four games.

After falling for a duck in the first match, Shubman Gill has made amends with the willow by being the leading run-scorer (187 in 4 innings) for Gujarat. In the game against Hyderabad too, he looked in fine touch, before Rahul Tripathi pouched a blinder.

Smart Picks for Rajasthan vs Gujarat Match

Trent Boult has picked a wicket in every game this edition. Interestingly, out of his seven scalps, five have been left-handers. Given that Gujarat’s top six batters are southpaws, the Kiwi pacer will fancy his chances of adding more to the tally.

Barring the last game against Hyderabad, Mohammad Shami has been regularly amongst the wickets. If anybody can stop the formidable top order of Rajasthan, it’s him. Remember how he rocked Lucknow’s openers with the new ball?

After scoring 55 and 30 in his first two outings, Sanju Samson has only added 21 runs in his last two innings. If Rajasthan are to put pressure on the celebrated Gujarat bowling, his role with the bat will be crucial.

It appears that Gujarat want to use Rahul Tewatia in the capacity of a finisher. We know how dangerous he can be with the bat. With the ball though, he is yet to pick a wicket.

Gujarat will be pleased that newcomers Sai Sudarshan (46) and Abhinav Manohar (35) have also contributed to the team’s cause.

Devdutt Padikkal has looked confident with scores of 29, 37, 7, and 41. However, he will soon need a bigger score at the top to justify his selection.
