Power Players for Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Match

Rajasthan will bank on crafty spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal to strike big. In fact, both are in the top 10 list for all-time wicket-takers in the tournament. Between them, they have bagged 284 wickets.

Although Rajasthan failed to qualify for the playoffs over the past few seasons, Jos Buttler has been consistently getting runs for them at the top. Last year, the England opener scored 254 runs at 36.28, including the highest score of 124 against Hyderabad.

There are very few batters who average over 40 in the Indian T20 League. Kane Williamson not only averages in that region but also maintains a decent strike rate of 131. Last year, the New Zealand legend scored 20 and 51 against Rajasthan.

Smart Picks for Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Match

Sanju Samson has a history of starting the tournament with a bang and then going off the boil. That said, he finished as the highest run-getter (484 at 40.33) for Rajasthan in 2021. In addition to his free-flowing batting, Samson will also don the gloves.

Trent Boult has the happy knack for striking in the powerplay. His ability to swing and seam the new ball often keeps him amongst the wickets. He has taken 38 wickets, including the best figures of 4 for 18 in the last two editions.

Umran Malik was one of the finds of the tournament in 2021, owing to which Hyderabad retained him. Expect plenty of hostility from this aggressive fast bowler.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been leading the seam attack for Hyderabad since 2014. Although he might have taken only 9 wickets in the last two editions, his overall numbers (142 wickets) are a testimony to his consistency.

Nicholas Pooran can blow hot and hold. His numbers in 2021 (average of 7.72 in 12 games) were anything but awful. However, his recent T20 outing against India – 61, 62, 61 – should boost his confidence. The West Indian is also likely to keep wickets for Hyderabad this season.

Devdutt Padikkal and Rahul Tripathi will bat in the top order for their respective sides. While the southpaw likes to build the innings, Tripathi is known for going hard. At a reasonable budget, these two batters can make a difference in fantasy leagues.

Given that most marquee names will be available for selection, both sides look evenly matched in all departments. There is little to separate the Hyderabad & Rajasthan teams on the head-to-head front as well. While Hyderabad have won on 8 occasions, Rajasthan have triumphed 7 times.
