Time: 10th Feb, 8 PM IST

Venue: Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore

Pitch Report

The Gaddafi Stadium will host the Pakistan T20 League for the first time since March 2020. However, when Pakistan took on South Africa in February 2021, both teams scored in excess of 160. The spinners picked up 11 out of 14 wickets.

Teams

The top-order has been getting runs and the bowlers have been delivering as well. It’s tough to see Multan tinkering with their playing 11.

Probable 11 for Multan: Mohammad Rizwan (c & wk), Shan Masood, Sohaib Maqsood, Tim David, Khushdil Shah, Johnson Charles/Rilee Rossouw, Anwar Ali, Abbas Afridi, Imran Tahir, Shahnawaz Dahani, Blessing Muzarabani/David Willey

Peshawar bowlers have not been striking consistently, owing to which we could see some changes in that department.

Probable 11 for Peshawar: Kamran Akmal (wk), Hasratullah Zazai, Haider Ali, Shoaib Malik, Ben Cutting, Sherfane Rutherford, Hussain Talat/ Saqib Mahmood, Wahab Riaz (c), Usman Qadir, Salman Irshad, Mohammad Umar

Multan vs Peshawar, Pakistan League T20: Today’s Fantasy Team

Power Players

Shan Masood has been phenomenal with the bat this season. Currently, he is the second-highest run-getter (275 runs at 55) in five games. The southpaw also scored 35 when the two teams met a few days ago.

Mohammad Rizwan’s 82 was instrumental in helping Multan beat Peshawar last week. He has scored 215 runs at 53.75, including three fifties in the tournament till now.

Imran Tahir has bagged 10 wickets in five games, including a three-wicket haul against Peshawar. Tahir was also one of the leading wicket-takers in the previous season.

Shahnawaz Dahani did struggle to pick wickets in the initial few games, but will be confident after picking up three in the last game. It’s also not to be forgotten that he was the highest wicket-taker (20) in the last edition.

Smart Picks

Peshawar will continue to depend on the services of Shoaib Malik. He has scored 143 runs in five matches, with a highest -score of 52*. Malik has also bowled in four games till now.

After the initial stutter, Tim David appears to have found form. He has scores of 51*, 71 and 28* in the last three outings. David has also smashed the most sixes (15) till now in the league.

Although Peshawar lost their last game, Ben Cutting’s 52 from 31 was the standout performance. He might get promoted up the order.

Although Khushdil Shah is a specialist batter, he has been a surprise package with the ball in the first five games, picking 9 wickets. Interestingly, Shah has bowled at least two overs in every game till now.

Match Prediction

Multan are unbeaten in the league after five games. On the other hand, Peshawar have won only two games out of five. Given the momentum, Multan should enter this contest as the favourites.
