Players to Watch Out for

Indian batters are no strangers to Rashid Khan. He gets the better of them in the Indian T20 League, and his current form makes him even mightier. His bowling figures in the tournament read 4 for 9, 2 for 26, and 1 for 14.

In the two matches played between these two teams, Virat Kohli is the only Indian batter to have scored a half-century. In the ongoing tournament, he has scores of 57 and 9.

Not only do India have to deal with Rashid but also the mystery spin of Mujeeb Ur Rahman who has taken 6 wickets in 3 games under an economy of 5.6.

Had it not been for Ravindra Jadeja’s 26 off 19, India would not have crossed 100 runs. He has been in good touch with the bat since his return from injury in June this year. With the ball, he tries to smother the batters with accuracy and maintain a decent run rate, although he needs to bag more wickets in the middle overs.

India lost by 10 wickets against Pakistan and 8 wickets against New Zealand. The only two wickets they have managed thus far were sniped up by Jasprit Bumrah. The rest have struggled because of dew.

Najibullah Zadran will play a key role in the middle overs. The Indian bowlers have lacked form, and if he bats as he has recently, India’s confidence will be further dented. He has scored 59, 22, and 7.

Match Prediction

For India to qualify, Afghanistan will have to beat New Zealand. Before that, however, they will have to beat Afghanistan tonight by a huge margin.

Nothing, absolutely nothing have gone their way. Virat Kohli blamed India’s lack of audacity with the bat, and their bowlers haven’t been able to deal with the dew in the second innings. For that to change, he will first have to win the toss – something that depends on his luck. Fortunes may change, but India have to get their form first.

In the only game Afghanistan lost, they almost pushed Pakistan to the last over. On paper, India may have a stronger and more experienced unit, but Afghanistan are well ahead in the race in terms of form and confidence.
